Mosquito Control Treatment
Yikes Pest Control

What are mosquitoes attracted to?

Mosquitoes are attracted to the carbon dioxide that we exhale. They also can smell lactic acid, octenol, and some other chemicals that humans emit when they sweat. So being out in the heat will attract more mosquitoes because your body is emitting these chemical odors that attract them.

So if you are outside on a hot day, you are more likely to get bitten by mosquitoes. They will also be attracted to light, so they may be more likely to bite you if you are outside at night. Mosquitoes are also attracted to certain colors, so wearing clothing that is light in color may make you more visible to them and increase your chances of getting bitten.

Our services run from March-October, pretty much all of spring and the summer months. During each one of your treatments we will apply a liquid residual to areas where adult mosquitoes land to help give added protection to your yard. We will also inspect your yard for any low lying areas or areas that are conducive to mosquito activity. During the first treatment, and every service after we will inform you on anything that we find during this inspection that may help protect you and your family form these annoying mosquito bites. We know nothing is more annoying than an active mosquito population, so give us a call today to schedule our first visit or one of our one time treatments.

What to expect from a mosquito service?

A mosquito control service can help to reduce the number of mosquitoes on your property. Services generally involve a visit from a technician who will assess the situation and recommend a plan of action. This may include using larvicide to kill the mosquitoes in their early stages or using insecticides to eliminate adult mosquitoes.

The benefits of using a professional pest service for mosquitoes.

When it comes to mosquitoes, most people would rather not have them around at all. Not only are they a nuisance, but they can also be dangerous since they can carry diseases like West Nile Virus. This is why many homeowners turn to professional pest control services for help getting rid of these unwanted guests.

There are a lot of benefits to using a professional mosquito service. For one, they have the experience and knowledge to get the job done right. They also have access to the latest and most effective treatments for mosquitoes. Plus, when you use a professional service, you can be sure that the treatment will be tailored specifically to your needs and situation.

What you can do to prepare for the treatment and to help reduce mosquito populations?

You can prepare for your mosquito treatment by doing the following:

- Make sure outdoor living spaces are free of standing water. Mosquitoes need this to breed, so you'll want to fix any clogged gutters or drains, clean out pet dishes after they eat, and dump anything that collects rainwater like old tires or buckets.

- Clear away any excess vegetation or debris that could provide mosquito populations with a place to hide.

- Move any outdoor furniture or toys so the pest control technician can get to all areas of your property.

Once the treatment is complete, it's important to keep up with regular maintenance in order to keep mosquitoes under control. This includes doing things like emptying outdoor pet dishes on a more regular basis, re-hanging bird feeders at least every five days, and making sure rain gutters get cleaned out after it rains. These steps, on top of a regularly occurring mosquito treatment will help reduce the mosquito population, as well as help prevent mosquito bites when you are hosting outdoor events or just enjoying your outdoor living space.
